Ingredients needed

To prepare this recipe in no time at all, you don't need many ingredients. With our complete Pastéis de Nata preparation kit, everything is already supplied: the authentic pastry cream and the right moulds for a perfect result. Here's what you'll need:

  • Pastéis de Nata preparation kit

  • Pre-rolled puff pastry (available in supermarkets)

  • Cinnamon (optional)

Step 1: Preparing the pastry

Start by preheating your oven to 250°C. Meanwhile, roll out the puff pastry on your work surface. Use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles of pastry that will cover your Pastel de Nata moulds perfectly.

Tip: Make sure the pastry is very thin to get that light, crispy texture.

Step 2: Filling the moulds

Once the pastry has been cut, place each circle in a Pastel de Nata mould, which you'll find included in our kit. Press gently so that the pastry sticks to the sides. If you want to make this step even easier, you can lightly grease your moulds with a little butter.

Step 3: Preparing the filling

Thanks to our kit, the pastry cream is already ready! All you have to do is pour it directly into each mould, no more than ¾ of the way up the sides to avoid any overflow during baking.

Step 4: Quick cooking

Place your filled moulds on a baking tray and bake at 250°C for around 15 to 20 minutes, until the surface of your Pastéis de Nata is golden and slightly caramelised. You should also see the edges of the puff pastry crisp and golden.

Step 5: Unmoulding and tasting

Once cooked, leave your Pastéis de Nata to cool for a few minutes before removing from the mould. If you've used the stainless steel moulds in our kit, unmoulding will be child's play. For an even more authentic touch, sprinkle with cinnamon before serving.

In just 30 minutes, you've made a dessert worthy of the best Portuguese pastries. Whether it's for a special occasion or simply to satisfy a sweet craving, this easy Pastel de Nata recipe is within everyone's reach. With our complete preparation kit, even beginners can get started and get it right the first time.
